Troops under the Multinational Joint Task Force operating in Monguno, Borno State, successfully prevented a potential terror attack by apprehending a terrorist messenger.
The suspect, Mr. Murktar Alhaji Chari, confessed to transporting makeshift explosive-making materials to Damasak in Mobbar Local Government Area for an attack on MNJTF troops.
The arrested materials included several empty cylinders and gas canisters. Intelligence reports suggested the items were intended for terrorists plotting a retaliatory attack after recent losses and the seizure of a weapons cache.
This interception thwarted a planned attack and significantly weakened the terrorists’ operational abilities.
The suspect is now in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the Force Commander of MNJTF, praised the troops and Civilian JTF for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming MNJTF’s commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring regional safety.
