Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi recently visited lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi. This follow Farotimi’s release from an Ekiti correctional facility.
Obi expressed admiration for Farotimi’s resilience and unwavering commitment to a better Nigeria. He noted Farotimi’s positive spirit despite the challenging time he’d endured.
“I was pleased to find him in good spirits and deeply encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria,” Obi stated. He further highlighted Farotimi’s bravery in advocating for good governance. “Dele Farotimi exemplifies courage in the face of adversity, consistently taking bold stands for good governance in our nation,” Obi added.
The visit and Obi’s words of support come after Farotimi’s arrest in December. His detention stemmed from defamation and cyberbullying allegations filed by renowned legal icon, Aare Afe Babalola. The allegations centered on a 116-page book titled “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System,” which Mr. Farotimi authored.
Obi wished Farotimi a productive year as they continue their shared pursuit of national advancement.
