The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has made a significant discovery, uncovering an illicit crude oil reservoir within the state. The announcement was made on Tuesday, following a joint operation conducted alongside the Nigeria Army and TANTITA Security Service.
According to DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, spokesperson for the NSCDC Ondo State Command, the hidden reservoir was situated in a forest in Obe-Akingboye, Ilaje Local Government Area. The discovery was made on Sunday at approximately 2:12 pm, although no arrests were made as the suspects had already fled the scene.
Commandant Mr. Oluyemi Ibiloye has issued a stern warning to those engaging in illicit dealings related to petroleum products, cautioning them to desist or face the full force of the law. He also reaffirmed the command’s dedication to safeguarding critical national assets, particularly within the solid minerals sector.
