Cristiano Ronaldo to Be Honored as UEFA Champions League’s All-Time Top Scorer

Cristiano Ronaldo, a name that stands out in European football, is about to receive a special award from UEFA, recognizing him as the UEFA Champions League’s all-time top scorer.

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin will present the award during the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League draw ceremony on Thursday, August 29, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

According to a statement from UEFA on Tuesday, Ronaldo’s incredible achievements in the UEFA Champions League, including his 140 goals in 183 games, have set new standards in the competition’s history. He is the only player to have scored in three different finals and is a five-time winner. This award highlights his lasting legacy and sets a high bar for future footballers.

Ronaldo has scored 140 Champions League goals, 11 more than Lionel Messi and 46 more than Robert Lewandowski, who is third on the list.

Aleksander Čeferin praised Ronaldo’s incredible goal-scoring records, saying they will likely stand the test of time. He also noted Ronaldo’s dedication, professionalism, and ability to perform on the biggest stage, qualities that young footballers should strive to emulate.

Ronaldo has been the top scorer in seven different Champions League seasons, more than any other player. He holds the record for the most goals in a single season with 17 goals in 2013/14 and is the only player to have scored in three different finals (2008, 2014, 2017). Ronaldo also has the record for the longest scoring streak in the competition, with goals in 11 straight matches from June 2017 to April 2018, and has scored eight Champions League hat-tricks.
