Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced that by the 2027 general election, political parties will be absent in the Akwa Ibom state. He pointed out that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered significant damage and can no longer effectively protect the interests of the citizens.
During a midterm empowerment briefing held at the Ikot Ekpene township stadium on Friday, Akpabio, who represents the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District in the Senate, stated, “As I speak with you, there is nothing like a political party in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State again. For the Senate of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District, all political parties have collapsed to vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Looking ahead to the 2027 gubernatorial race, he mentioned that all political parties have collectively decided to support Governor Umo Eno. He confirmed that Akwa Ibom is set to support President Bola Tinubu, Umo Eno for the governor of Akwa Ibom State, and himself for the Senate.
“The Peoples Democratic Party is in shreds and the umbrella can no longer protect.”
