Two weeks after a wedding in Jigawa State tragically ended, a bride and her ex-lover have been arrested for allegedly poisoning the groom and guests. One guest sadly passed away, and the groom remains critically ill in the hospital. Eyewitnesses suggest the bride may have acted out of personal animosity.
While the police investigation is ongoing, the preliminary findings indicate a plan to harm the groom. Zahra’u Dauda, a 15-year-old bride, and Lawan Musa, her 22-year-old ex-lover, are accused of poisoning the groom’s food. The groom, Kamisu Haruna, and two of his friends ate the meal, experiencing severe stomach pains. Tragically, one of the groom’s friends died at the hospital.
Police spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, confirmed the arrests and told AREWA PUNCH. “The bride, Zahra’u Dauda, and her ex-lover, Lawan Musa, conspired to poison the groom’s food, Kamisu Haruna,” stated the spokesperson. “The groom and his two companions ate the meal, leading to stomach aches. One of the friends subsequently succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.”
Adam emphasized that investigations are continuing to uncover the full details of the incident. All those affected by the poisoning have been released from the hospital now, barring the victim. The identities of the deceased friend remain undisclosed.
Police urged anyone with information about the incident to step forward. Justice will be served. The police are determined to find the truth and bring those responsible to account. This tragic incident underscores the seriousness of this situation.
