The Supreme Court has nullified the Zamfara election results of all the candidates of the APC in Zamfara State in the last (2019) general elections.
In a unanimous judgement delivered by the five man panel led by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad on Friday (May 24, 2019), the apex court declared the first runners up in the general elections (PDP) as the winners of all the posts earlier declared to have been won by the APC and it’s candidates.

The judgement upheld the decision of the Sokoto Division of Appeal Court that the APC did not conduct any valid primary election and as such had no candidate for any of the elections in the State.
So, the votes polled by the APC candidates in the elections could be described as wasted and the candidates with the second highest votes in all the elections were the valid winners.
The judgement affects the Governorship, House of Assembly and National Assembly elections conducted in Zamfara State on January 23 and February 3.
APC candidates, including the outgoing Governor who was elected to Senate won most of the offices contested for, while PDP’s candidates came second in the polls.
Besides, the panel award the cost of NGN10 million against APC.
