Former VP and presidential candidate of the PDP in the February 2019 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has demanded from presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie, the sum of N500 million and also an apology from her for defaming him.
Mrs. Onochie had written on her Twitter handle “Atiku on UAE Security Watch list- Security sources”, a claim the former VP has come out to say was a lie, damaging to his person and designed to put him under security watch around the world.
In a letter written to Onochie by Atiku’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome SAN, Atiku averred that he was never under any security watch list and asked her to provide evidence to support her claim.
Atiku in the letter also threatened to sue Onochie for N2bn and Cyber bullying, if she failed to meet his demand.
The letter reads:
“That you pay to our client through the firm, the sum of N500,000,000 only, representing minimal damages to assuage his already battered image wholly caused by your said defamatory publication.
“Take notice that if you fail or refuse to accede to our modest demands within the next 48 hours from the date of this letter, we shall be compelled to activate the full weight of the legal machinery against you without any further recourse to you”.
