Ondo NULGE elects new President

Kindly share this:

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Ondo State has elected a new Sate President. He is Comrade Bola Taiwo. He emerged yesterday, 2nd December 2018 at a bye-election conducted in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The bye-election became necessary following the resignation of the current State President of the Union. The President resigned after becoming a Permanent Secretary in Ondo State Local Government Service.

Comrade Bola Taiwo thus replaces Comrade Olubunmi Eniayewu, who was recently appointed a Permanent Secretary, serving at Ondo State Local Government Pensions Board in Akure.

On the rationale for a bye-election, a source who craved for anonymity said: “The bye-election was done in line with the laid down provision of NULGE. The elections that brought in the outgoing President and that of his Vice in 2013 were separate elections. As a matter of fact, they had different number of votes at the time. This is quite different from elections of governors and deputies where a single election was done for the two of them. So, filling the vacant position of the President is not automatic and we have precedents”.
