Nigeria is once again in the spotlight for insecurity as the Founder and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, led members of his congregation on a prayer walk against insecurity in the nation.
The nationwide prayer walk among members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, arguably the largest congregation in Nigeria, was led by the General Overseer. The cleric had directed his congregation to participate in the prayer walk as a way of seeking God’s face in the insecurity of the nation. The prayer walk was called by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to draw attention to the spate of killings in Nigeria.
The popular pastor, who was dressed in the colour of the Nigerian flag of green and white, carried a placard with an inscription: All souls are precious to God. It is expected that not less than 25,000 parishes of the RCCG would participate in today’s prayer walk.
The security situation in Nigeria has been a source of concern to many with Nigerians from all walks of life calling on President Buhari to sack the Service Chiefs as part of renewed efforts to improve the situation.
Meanwhile, the Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe had demanded the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari because of the insecurity in the nation. He made the call on Wednesday, January 29, when the lawmakers debated a motion on national security and the need to restructure Nigeria’s security architecture.
