Naira Marley arraigned in court, remanded in prison custody.

Sensational Nigerian musician, Naira Marley, was arraigned in court today Monday 20th of May, 2019.

It will be recalled that Naira Marley was arrested earlier this month, along with others, on account of their activities on Social Media, that allegedly glorified internet fraud, popularly called “Yahoo Yahoo”.

While others were released after few days, Naira Marley was held in custody of the EFCC for further investigation.

Naira Marley was docked today on 11-count charge by EFCC on offences bordering on cybercrime for allegedly “conniving with Yad Isril (at large) to use Access card issued to other persons in a bid to obtain gain, an offence contrary to Section 27(1) (b) of the Cybercrime Prohibition, Prevention Act 2015,” EFCC writes on their Twitter handle @officialEFCC.

He was arraigned before Justice Nicholas Oweibo of Federal High Court, Ikoyi Lagos. In the Courtroom, Naira Marley’s mother could not hold back her tears when she saw her son.

There have been calls by Naira Marley’s fans that the artiste should be released but the anti-graft agency says that Naira Marley has a case to answer.

Today is his first appearance in court. Naira Marley pleaded not guilty to all the charges and was remanded in prison custody until 30th May 2019 when his bail application is expected to be heard.
