Nollywood Mike Ezuruonye impersonator convicted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that Ekoh Noel, who impersonated ace Nollywood actor, Mike Ezuruonye on Facebook, has been sentenced to one year imprisonment. 

This was posted yesterday on the verified Twitter handle of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,@officialEFCC.

According to EFCC, Eko Noel fraudulently obtained the sum of NGN12.4 million from his victim by posing as Mike in romance scam. The sentence was handed down by Justice P. I. Ajoku of a Fed High Court, Benin, Edo State.

EFCC says the the actor commended them for apprehending and prosecuting impersonators who were using his name to for romance scams. According to the statement, Mike says it is quite amazing how the women have come to believe that it was truly him. “They even use my picture, voice & old videos to defraud people”, Mike said.
