Katsina Goes Tough on Cattle Rustling and Kidnapping, Approves Death Penalty

Kindly share this:

The Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, has signed into law a mandatory death sentence for anyone convicted of cattle rustling or kidnapping in the state.

The Governor also approved mandatory imprisonment, as well as fine and compensation to the victim in a case of rape.

It will be recalled that there were recent attacks in the State. The latest was the attack in three local government areas of Dan Musa, Faskari, and Batsari, where it was reported that about 26 people lost their lives.

The security situation in the State has forced the State government to cancel all activities slated for the inauguration of the Governor come May 29th 2019. Only the mandatory swearing-in ceremony will be carried out, without the usual fanfare.
