Pro-Trump Backlash: Kanye West deletes social media accounts

Kindly share this:

Popular American rapper and Kim Kardashian husband, Kanye West, has deleted his Twitter and Instagram accounts. This was sequel to the reactions that trailed his support for President Donald Trump during his appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

The deletion came a week after Kanye West, who goes by the handle @ye on Twitter, appeared on the popular TV programme. Noteworthy is the fact that Kanye wore the red Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat to the TV program.

In a video showing Kanye’s remarks on his support for Donald Trump, Kanye said: “Black man in America, supposed to keep what you’re feeling inside right now”, Kanye said.

“All those Democrats. You know, it’s like the plan they did, uh, to take their fathers out the home and promote welfare. Does anybody know about that? That’s a Democratic plan.”

Kanye further said that people castigate him for supporting Trump bacause they say he is a racist. To Kanye, if he was concerned about racism, he “would have left America a long ago”.

Kanye West was blasted by celebrities, when appearing in subsequent episode of SNL, especially for suggesting the abolition of the 13th Amendment which outlaws slavery. “This represents good and America becoming whole again,” Kanye wrote. “We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs. We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love”

Following criticism however , Kanye later clarified his comments: “The 13th Amendment is slavery in disguise,” he noted, “meaning it never ended.”The 13th Amendment to the United States constitution says: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exists within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. “

It is remarkable that this is not the first time Kanye West will be deleting his Twitter account. He returned to Twitter recently after being off the social media network for about a year.

And so Kanye may be back soon.
