The governor who spoke on Sunday evening during the Radio/Television programme tagged” an evening with Mr Governor’ in Akure, the state capital, says insecurity is not a problem of the masses alone.
Akeredolu said that Nigeria roads were now den of kidnappers especially Akure – Ibadan road linking major cities in the South-West. He decried that his convoy ran into distrusted kidnappers on the same road recently, but they(the kidnappers) ran into the bush when his security men opened fire.
It was a serious confrontation between his convoy and the suspected kidnappers that even his security details were initially jittery until he told them to move on and they had to shoot into the air to scare the kidnappers away.
He admitted that lives of travellers were not safe on the road, but as foe him, the governor jokingly said, “I have passed the stage where somebody can kidnap me again”.
