Legendary boxer and retired World Heavyweight champion, Floyd Mayweather, has disclosed that he had not always been rich, and had to fight his way out of poverty. “I fought my way from poverty to the top”, he wrote.
According to Wikipedia, Floyd Mayweather is described as the best defensive boxer in history and retired with an undefeated record. Also, he is described as being the most accurate puncher since the existence of CompuBox. CompuBox is a computerised punches scoring system used in boxing matches across the whole world.
Floyd said he had worked extremely hard all his life and deserved to enjoy life to the fullest. “When you put the hard work, dedication, focus and determination into a craft over a lifetime, great results usually reflects”, he opined.
Floyd berated the current trend in the world where people seek instant gratification, a case of ‘small work, big pay’ lifestyle. Before he became what he is today, he was always on his grind. Yet, when people see him, they see the successful “Money Mayweather” not the “Little Floyd”, thinking that everything was handed over to him.
“Before the jets, yachts, bugattis etc, I was always on my grind”, Floyd maintained. Floyd is not apologetic about the way people perceive him to be, saying “I am often being scrutinised for being cocky or arrogant, but I have every right to be”.
According to urbandictionary.com, to be “on the grind” means “to work hard, always be hsustling”. By using the phrasal verb therefore, Floyd is referring to the fact that he has paid his dues to get this far.
Floyd Maywaether has not been wasteful either from his words. According to him, he has made “great investments” and does not deserve anything less than an “incredible lifestyle”, he concluded.
Floyd made these remarks on a post on his Instagram page, with a photograph of him in a luxurious jet. See the post below:
