How police inspector was killed by unknown hoodlums in Ondo

A Police Inspector attached to Isua Division of the Nigeria Police Force has been shot dead at a checkpoint along Isua-Ise road in Isua local government area of Ondo State.

The officer, simply identified as Lasisi, was with his colleagues to mount a checkpoint on the road when the incident happened.

According to a source, officers from the division had been checking criminal activities on the road over the past year. However, they were not lucky on Monday as they were attacked.

Yet-to-be-identified hoodlums suddenly came out of the bush and rained bullets on them. While the deceased died in the incident, his colleagues were lucky and escaped from the scene.

“The policemen were always on that road for the past one year to check the activities of the bandits in the area. But it was unfortunate today (Monday) that some hoodlums just came from nowhere and opened fire on the policemen at the checkpoint. While Mr. Lasisi was killed other policemen at the checkpoint ran for their lives.”

A source commenting on the incident in Akoko.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has reportedly been deposited at the mortuary in General Hospital, Ipe-Akoko.

Also, Spokesperson of Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph while confirming the incident, said investigation was ongoing and the hoodlums would soon be arrested.

“Our men are already combing the bush and I want to assure you they will be arrested very soon. “
