The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, has tested positive for coronavirus. He made the announcement of his Twitter handle today through a video he posted.
The Prime Minister noted that he developed mild symptoms of coronavirus over the last 24 hours, which included fever and persistent cough, and on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer, he took the test and it turned out positive.
Boris Johnson said he was self-isolating and would be working from home, which was the right thing to do. He noted that, thanks to modern technology, he would continue to lead the government’s efforts at curbing the disease from home.
He used the opportunity to thank the staff of the National Health Service (NHS) and indeed everyone who was doing great, working to keep the country going through the epidemic.
He expressed his belief that the country would beat the epidemic when people stick to the guidelines that have already been rolled out by staying at home and self-isolating like he was doing.
He also asked the people to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.
