The Nigeria Police have announced the arrest of 93 suspects for kidnapping in Nigeria. The suspects were arrested across different parts of the North East, North West and North Central,
In addition, operatives of Operation Puff Adder, recovered 1 rocket launcher, 35 AK47 rifles, 10 locally made AK47 rifles, 500 live ammunition and other dangerous weapons including 8 locally made revolver pistols, 10 pairs of military camouflage uniform, 2 operation vehicles and other incriminating items from the arrested suspects.
This information was contained in a Statement released by Force Headquarters and signed by DCP Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer in Abuja.
The statement readoin part: “The unrelenting and aggressive counter kidnapping strategies of the Police in the fight against kidnapping and other heinous crimes in the country have continued to yield positive results as Police Operatives attached to operation Puff Adder recorded yet another harvest of criminal elements”.
The operation was carried out by a joint team of Operatives attached to operation Puff Adder, North-Central Zone. In the meantime, Police have commenced investigations into the activities of the 93 suspects.
The investigation, according to the Statement, was aimed at “tracking, uncovering and disrupting the sources of arms supply to the criminal groups, as well as identifying their collaborators and bringing all involved in these heinous crimes to justice.”
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police commended the Operatives for a successful operation, and reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police in restoring sanity to Nigeria highways.
The IGP also thanked members of the public for ” providing credible intelligence that has helped the Police in achieving the successes recorded so far”, the Statement concluded.
