The Nigerian Army has announced the kiling of nine key members of the media team of Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP).
The announcement was made on Monday by the Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa.
The Army said that one of the key strategies of the terrorists group is using members of the media team, described as ‘social media personalities’, to engage in online propaganda in its quest to maintain a virtual caliphate.
The army said that the killing of the members of the media team and the admittance of same by ISWAP, is a confirmation that the group has been seriously degraded and can no longer act freely.

The army gave the names of members of ISWAP killed in the operation as the following.
Abu Hurayra al-Barnawi, Ali al-Ghalam al-Kajiri, Abu Musab Muhammed Mustafa al-Maiduguri, Abu Abdullah Ali al-Barnawi, Abu Musa al-Camerooni, Ahmed al-Muhajir, Abu Ali al-Bamawi, Abu Khubayb bin Ahmed al-Barnawi and Abu al-Qa’qa’ al-Maiduguri.
